In this week’s podcast, we discuss our reporting of a story Wednesday (April 25) about Shelton police killing a pit bull that had attacked a woman Tuesday evening.

The story prompted some angry reactions from readers who didn’t like the fact that we identified the dog as a pit bull. We talk about how the controversy affected our reporting, whether that’s a good or bad thing, and how we interact with our readers in general.

So give it a listen, regardless of where you stand on the issue, then go on our Facebook page and tell us what you think. We appreciate the feedback, whether it’s positive, negative, or mixed.

  1. That is the purpose of the questioning the breed – to confuse the story. It is not hard to identify a pit bull. You yourself said you’ve got tons in your neighborhood.

The criticisms you got will not stop unless you completely stop identifying a pit bull that did anything bad. Good point that no one questions when the pit bull a victim of does something good.

    Don’t cave to them.

Here is a key to the “exotic” breeds they mention:
