Isac Saravia, 26, was arrested Oct. 29 and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving, according to a press release.

The arrest comes about a month after a car accident on Sept. 24 which took the life of Adonis Lapuppet-Bligen, a 27-year-old Ansonia resident. Lapuppet-Bligen was the only person inside his car when it struck a telephone pole.

According to police, Saravia had been following Lapuppet-Bligen in his own car moments before the crash. Police said both Saravia’s car and Lapuppet-Bligen’s were going about 80 miles per hour.

“Detectives learned that Saravia was driving his own car following closely behind the car driven by Lapuppet-Bligen right before the accident where Lapuppet-Bligen died,” the release states.

Lapuppet-Bligen was the only person inside his car when it struck a telephone pole. His death was ruled an accident via blunt force trauma, police said.

The investigation did not establish probable cause that the cars were racing, according to the press release. Police said Lapuppet-Bligen had a blood alcohol content of .089 at the time of the accident, which is above the .080 legal limit in Connecticut.

Saravia posted a $75,000 bond and is due to appear at Superior Court in Derby on Nov. 12.
