SEYMOUR Larry Janesky’s Contractor Nation announced Tuesday it has acquired Master Service Companies, a company based in Knoxville, Tenn.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
Master Service Companies provides basement waterproofing, crawl space encapsulation, among other services.
It has almost 200 employees in three officers in Tennessee, Indiana and North Carolina.
Contractor Nation operates a network of independent basement, crawl space and foundation repair companies in the United States and Canada, including Janesky’s well-known Basement Systems.
Contractor Nation is headquartered on Progress Avenue in Seymour’s industrial park. The company has 356,000 square feet of space across nine buildings.
The acquisition is the first of its kind for Contractor Nation, according to a press release.
“We will be working with existing leadership and team members to take the company to new heights, starting right now,” Janesky said.
Josh Smith founded Master Service Companies in 2007.
Contractor Nation also provides professional development and leadership management seminars for men and women in the industry. Smith took part, according to the press release.
“The training I have received has been instrumental in my ability to grow Master Services Companies, and I know Larry is the right person to take the business to the next level,” he said.
Master Service’s senior leadership team will remain in place: General Manager Robin Hurst in Knoxville and Jeff Russell in Indianapolis. In Winston-Salem, Rich Pomales, has been named General Manager.
The businesses and networks in Contractor Nation include Basement Systems, CleanSpace, Total Basement Finishing, Dr. Energy Saver, Attic Systems, The School of Entrepreneurship, Treehouse Internet Group, MoreHouse Finance, Supportworks, and National Radon Defense.

According to The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce: “Not only do these children at promise receive backpacks with supplies, but they also get two outfits, socks, underwear, sneakers, and a jacket or winter coat! In addition, (the chamber’s) Healthcare Council was able to help with a big item on the faculty’s wish list and now a therapy dog will visit the school once a month.”
Learn New Skills Quickly In HCC Continuing Ed Courses
(press release)
Whether you’re looking for personal growth, career development, or an opportunity to quickly begin a whole new path, Housatonic Community College (HCC) is offering a wide range of engaging continuing education courses this fall for students of all ages.
More than 40 courses are currently offered in the fields of Business, Computer Information Technology, Healthcare, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Public Safety, Health & Fitness, Personal Enrichment and English as a Second Language. The classes are designed as low cost, high-quality programs, taught by experienced instructors.
“We are passionate about student success, and these programs offer another avenue for learning, often providing training for an entirely new career in just a matter of months,” said Paul Broadie, President of Housatonic Community College.
Jennifer Freischlag, a student in HCC’s Ophthalmic Assistant program, did just that. With just two classes and some initial work experience, she was permitted to take the certification exam, providing her entry into a new lucrative career as part of an eye-care team.
“This was the best education I’ve ever received,” said Freischlag. “I’ve gained so many skills that will benefit my career and help many patients with their needs. After updating my resume, two companies found me and were interested in me.”
“Our professional training, certification and licensure programs not only enhance skills and expand job opportunities, they also support our region’s economic development,” said President Broadie.
Most classes begin the first week in September, and registration is going on now. No Visa, citizenship, or proof of state residency are required. To learn more, visit https://www.housatonic.edu/continuing-professional-education or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
