Pennsylvania State Police issued a statement Tuesday morning saying homicide suspect Peter Manfredonia may attempt to use ride-sharing services in an attempt to get out of the East Stroudsburg area.

It is believed that Manfredonia does not have ties to the area and does not have a vehicle,” state police in Pennsylvania said in a statement posted to social media. He may attempt to solicit ride sharing services, possibly through third party means, to flee the area.”

Manfredonia, a UConn senior, is suspected of killing 62-year-old Ted DeMers and badly injuring another man in Willington (Connecticut) Friday morning.

He then entered a nearby house in Willington, where he held a person against his will until Sunday morning. At that point, Manfredonia, after stealing a number of firearms and the homeowner’s vehicle, headed to Derby, about 70 miles away.

He abandoned his stolen vehicle near the intersection of Cullens Hill Road and Hawthorne Avenue next to Osborndale State Park.

Between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday he allegedly walked a mile to 404 Roosevelt Drive (state Route 34), where Derby police believe he killed 23-year-old Nick Eisele, an acquaintance from their home town of Newtown. The medical examiner announced May 26 that Eisele died from a gunshot wound.

Manfredonia then forced Eisele’s girfriend into her vehicle and headed south. The woman was found unharmed in New Jersey, according to state police. The press statement from Pennsylvania State Police Tuesday said the woman had escaped” from Manfredonia, which is new information.

Pennsylvania police said Manfredonia used an Uber to go from Jersey to a Walmart in East Stroudsburg. He walked behind the super center, along railroad tracks, at which point his image was captured by a surveillance camera (and is posted at the top of this story).

That was Sunday, and it’s the last time he was spotted. His family, speaking through an attorney Monday night, urged Manfredonia to surrender. The lawyer noted Manfredonia has a history of mental heath problems.

Police said Manfredonia is carrying a duffel bag full of the guns he stole from Connecticut.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts or with information about the cases are asked to call Connecticut State Police Troop C at 860 – 896-3200 or the FBI at 1 – 800-CALL FBI (225‑5324).
