Valley United Way’s Annual Gala Is Jan. 19

Valley United Way is thrilled to announce that its 5th Annual Gala will be an exciting evening – A Night in Havana.

Guests will dance the night away to the rich and electrifying sounds of Latin music by the nine-piece band Orquesta Afinke, enjoy cigars rolled on site, and feast on a sumptuous dinner.

This special event is being held on January 19, 5:30 pm, at Race Brook Country Club in Orange (snow date, January 26). The money raised stays in the Valley towns of Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour, and Shelton.

All proceeds from the event help Valley United Way fund its many initiatives and partner agencies. A few of the programs include Youth Leadership (developing our future leaders), Back to School (school supplies and clothing for students), and Harvest House (50,000 non-perishable food items collected annually). The most substantial Valley United Way program is Grow Your Own. This effort develops fruit and vegetable gardens in low-income neighborhoods, providing residents access to fresh food. Last year 2,000 pounds of food were grown.

Tickets are $100 per person or a VIP table for 10 people for $1,000. VIP benefits include preferred table location, 5 freshly rolled cigars, personal cocktail service, entry into a drawing for special prizes, and the opportunity to preorder your wine selection.

Tickets can be purchased online at valleyunitedway.org or by phone (203) 926‑9478.

A special thank you to our sponsors: Edgewell Personal Care, Iroquois, Hubbell, Pitney Bowes, Riverview Funeral Home, Webster Bank, Griffin Health, and Dworken, Hillman, LaMorte & Sterczala. In-kind support provided by Latin Rhythm Dance Studio, DJ Rick Condit, Fred Ortoli Photography and Minuteman Press.
