The department dealing with blight was established during the Garofalo administration.
During Mayor Staffieri’s administration, a decision was made to add fines to blighted properties, but that administration never followed through with ensuring that the homeowners actually remediated the blight.

Thank you Alderwoman Barbara DeGennaro for backing up our claims of turnover in the Derby’s City Government over the last 2 years.
If you do the math by your calculations the city of Derby was without a finance director between Tom Thompson’s departure on January 29, 2015 until the appointment of former mayor Marc Garofalo’s uncle Sal Coppola on September 24, 2015 that leaves a gap of 7 months of the city of Derby operating without a finance director which we all know to be untrue.

Derby Democrats contacted police after a large sign supporting incumbent Mayor Anita Dugatto was damaged Tuesday night.
The sign was near the corner of Academy Hill and Ridge roads near Witek Park.

The headquarters are next to Archie Moore’s, a restaurant downtown.

Rich Dziekan, the Republican candidate for Derby mayor, is hosting a grand opening at his campaign headquarters tonight (Thursday, Oct. 8).
The public is invited, according to a post on the candidate’s Facebook page. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
