The only contested race locally on Election Day was the matchup in state House District 104, where state Rep. Kara Rochelle fended off a challenge from Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti and Independent Party candidate Tom Egan.
The district includes all of Ansonia and much of west Derby.
Valley Indy reporter Jasmine Wright spent the afternoon of Election Day talking to voters at the polls to find out who they voted for and why.

ANSONIA/DERBY – With Election Day a week away, state Rep. Kara Rochelle’s campaign is spending money on Facebook ads while Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti is spending money on lawn signs, according to the latest available campaign finance disclosures.
Election Day is Nov. 5.
Rochelle, the incumbent Democrat, is being challenged by Republican nominee Cassetti, and Thomas Egan, the Independent Party’s endorsed candidate.
ANSONIA/DERBY – Incumbent state Rep. Kara Rochelle and challenger, Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti, each qualified for a state grant that will fund their campaigns.
The public program funds campaigns for candidates for state legislative office. Once candidates qualify for the funding, they can’t fundraise for additional private contributions – meaning both Cassetti and Rochelle’s campaigns both have the same amount of money to work with.
