Connecticut ‘Cannibal’ Has Ansonia Roots

Tyree Lincoln Smith, accused of killing a Bridgeport man and then eating the victim’s eyeball and a portion of his brain, graduated from Ansonia High School, the Connecticut Post is reporting.

Smith’s cousin told the paper that Smith graduated from Ansonia High School in the 1990s and had played on the school’s football team.

Smith, 35, allegedly killed his victim Dec. 15 with an axe. He was arrested Tuesday in Florida, where he was staying at a friend’s house, the Post reported.

The victim apparently was staying inside the abandoned house — and had invited Smith to come in out of the cold.

The Huffington Post, citing an arrest warrant, said parts of the victim’s body were consumed at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport.

Smith’s last known address was in Bridgeport. A family member said he had a history of psychiatric problems.
