It’s going to be a big week for food in the Valley.
Monday, Oct. 3 marks the start of the first Greater Valley Restaurant Week, with 12 restaurants in the Valley creating a special price menu.
The prices will be fixed at $9 for lunch and $20.11 for dinner.
The week of good eating is being promoted by the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber President Bill Purcell said it is intended to be the first of an annual series. It runs Oct. 3 through Oct. 7.
“The concept is to promote the breadth of culinary delights, the wide diversity of culinary delights, we have here in our Valley,” Purcell said.

All the restaurants participating are independently owned. The idea is to help drive traffic to these restaurants with special promotional pricing, Purcell said.
One of the restaurant owners, Libby Meissner of Crave in downtown Ansonia, sees it as a treat for foodies with a hankering to explore.
“It’s a way of trying out a restaurant without paying the full price. You get to see what the flavors are all about,” Meissner said.
