SEYMOUR – Republican First Selectwoman Annmarie Drugonis was re-elected Tuesday, defeating Democratic challenger Phillip Wilhelmy, III by a vote of 2,331 to 1,270.
The Valley Indy will update the numbers on Wednesday morning.
Drugonis, 54, celebrated her victory with supporters at the Housatonic House Restaurant on Route 34.
“Now Republicans, we’ve kept our seats. We kept them because we fight. We kept them because we’re good at our job. Now go out there and continue the good work, and work as a team. Continue coming together and moving the town forward like we need to,” Drugonis said.
Mom to college daughter Alana, Drugonis is planning to get right back to business.
During her next two years in office, Drugonis, in part, said she wants to see the completion of several major road improvement projects, including the Bungay, Botsford and West street projects.
She’s also looking forward to a much-needed fix to Clinton Road, an accident-prone road owned by the state, as well as tackling blight, working to increase foot traffic downtown and going after vacant properties with a significant amount of back taxes owed.
Touting numerous economic development wins on her administration’s watch, including bringing 12 new businesses to town over the last two years, Drugonis said further growing the town’s grand list to help keep taxes down is a priority.

These are the numbers that were sent to the Secretary of State by the town.
The Valley Indy checked with the Registrar’s Office locally on Wednesday afternoon to double check which names should be put in bold.
Bold denotes the winner.
