Health District Reports First COVID-19 Death In The Lower Naugatuck Valley

A postmortem test revealed an 80-year-Shelton man had the COVID-19 virus before he died, the Naugatuck Valley Health District reported Thursday.

The Naugatuck Valley Health District is saddened to announce the first COVID-19 related death in the jurisdiction,” according to a prepared statement from the health district. The deceased was a male in (his) 80s living in Shelton and was tested for the virus postmortem. We extend our sincerest condolences to the family of the individual. The health district does not have any more details related to this death.” 

The health district did not provide any additional details about the man.

As of 3 p.m. Thursday (March 26), 31 people in the health district’s jurisdiction have tested positive for COVID-19. The total is up from 22 confirmed cases on Wednesday (March 25). Click here for previous days.
