Klarides Endorses Cassetti For Second Term

Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti’s campaign sent the following statement Friday on behalf of state Rep. Themis Klarides:

I am proudly endorsing David Cassetti for Mayor of Ansonia. Mayor Cassetti has positioned himself in direct opposition to the high tax policies and anti-business attitudes that are driving residents and jobs out of Connecticut. He has achieved two consecutive years of tax relief while working with employers and developers to make Ansonia a more attractive place to do business in.

When Ansonia’s oldest active manufacturer, the Farrel Corporation, announced it was exploring the possibility of leaving the State of Connecticut, Mayor Cassetti did not sit on his hands. Rather, he fought vigorously to keep Farrel and its jobs in Ansonia. By working directly with Farrel’s owners, site developers and the U.S. Office of Economic Development Administration, Mayor Cassetti was able to obtain a $1 million federal grant that made Farrel’s relocation to the Fountain Lake Industrial Park financially possible. Construction is now underway for a new, state-of-the-art headquarters for the local manufacturer. Governor Dan Malloy and municipal leaders statewide would do well to follow Mayor Cassetti’s example.

Mayor Cassetti and his administration have an ambitious plan for Ansonia that includes growing the local economy and improving the quality of life for all residents. He and his team deserve another 2 years to follow through.
