Letter: Not Enough Info About Derby Road Bond

DERBY — In the last five years of the current administration, a road paving program has not existed even though there are many roads that need attention. This administration has dropped the ball on essential city services and now wants us to pay the price.

On Tuesday we will have to vote on question 2 to consider spending three million dollars on road paving. This seems like a simple question; however, the intentions of the administration are darker. In all my years of service to the city, we have had numerous successful road bond projects.

In every case, all the roads were evaluated by professional engineers and then prioritized for repair. When the question was submitted to the voters, it was very clear and transparent what roads would be paved with the money if approved.

In this current proposal, the Mayor and the Chief of Staff have refused to obtain approval of the roads to be paved in an effort to play political games instead of being honest with the voters. Let us not give this administration a blank check for their poor planning.

Without approved roads for this project, I strongly urge voters to vote NO on question 2 on November 8.
