SRH-MS Chapter Regent Jeaneen Buchanan said the DAR, founded in 1890, is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Regent Buchanan noted that these principles are shared by the Seymour Historical Society to record and preserve the history, past and present, for the Town of Seymour.

The DAR is a women’s service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education and patriotism. Any woman over 18 who can prove lineal descent to an ancestor who served in the American Revolution is a prospective member.
