Senator Visits Derby, Talks Sequester, Guns, Redevelopment

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy visited Derby March 1, touring several businesses on Elizabeth Street with several Democratic Aldermen and Dr. Anita Dugatto, who filed paperwork at City Hall Feb. 28 in a bid to secure the party’s nomination for mayor.

Afterward, Murphy agreed to take a few questions from the Valley Indy inside Dugatto’s office.

We asked him to talk about the budget sequester which has been the basis of a war of words between Republicans and Democrats in Washington recently, as well as the gun control measures being contemplated in the wake of December’s Sandy Hook school shooting, and finally, what he can do to help bring jobs and development to the Valley.

The questions came, in part, from the Valley Indy’s Facebook page.
