Owner: I’m Closing My Store In Seymour

Gans, Green’s Variety Store, Derby Feed Store — these are some of our old farm receipts that are on display at The All-American Valley General Store in Seymour.

I found them a few years ago in our barn, filed away in our old filing cabinet — the cabinet hadn’t been touched since the 1960s.

I’ve had these on display for a few years, framed by one of our old barn windows (pictured above) because these receipts encompass the true meaning and concept of The General Store, and of The Valley as a whole.

The Valley has always had a thread and a fiber that weaved our communities together. We have always taken care of one another, and have supported each other’s local businesses.

It goes back generations- – and you can see that in these vintage receipts. I’m sure lots of you remember these stores and have your own stories.

Well, its time to add another extinct receipt to this collection.

This Saturday will be the last day The All-American Valley General Store will be open to the public in Seymour.

We are being aggressively forced out of our space through an eviction from our landlord due to us standing up against this unjust senior housing project being built in our/senior’s parking lot.

I will be posting so many details about this project soon, but for now it’s late — and I just wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you all to a farewell musical celebration from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The General Store.

Come share in laughter and memories, live music, friends and food for one last time.
