The recent letter from the Chair of the Derby DTC tells a very different story then the one that it is written.
Behind the letter, we see the picture of a party picking up the pieces after a long primary.
We see the chair of the Derby DTC trying to rally behind the slimly chosen candidate.
As chair of Derby RTC, I can tell you it is hard to get everyone to agree about everything, but I can also tell you that if there is a primary to a sitting Mayor – it is because there are serious leadership problems with that Mayor.
The story that is not being told, and what no one wants to talk about, is that the primary was entirely about the failed leadership of the Dugatto Administration.
Have these issues disappeared for the approximately five hundred democrats that choose on September 12th primary to vote for candidate other than Mayor Dugatto? The answer is NO.
Our City is still in abysmal financial shape, and lacks any true direction or progress and it is due to the failed leadership of the Dugatto Administration and her team.
To provide examples, over the last four years:
- Derby’s Grand list has decreased by over 32 million dollars;
- There has been NO economic development, despite the hiring of an economic development director;
- The administration has delayed and continued to delay the redesign of RT 34, which is the main artery to the heart of our City;
The September 12th Democratic primary has proven that hundreds and hundreds of Derby residents already understand that Derby is going in the wrong direction under the failed leadership of the Dugatto administration.
Those same residents know that Derby cannot afford another 2 years of stagnation, delays, broken promises and more failed leadership.
Derby needs real leadership. Leadership that will work tirelessly to improve Derby’s finances, grow the grand list, promote economic development, and improve our Derby’s bond rating. Derby deserves a leader committed to Derby – 100 percent of the time. Committed 100 percent to improving the Derby community; committed 100 percent to its citizens; and committed 100 percent to the job.
And to prove my point just ask any democratic alderman what happened at last week’s meeting; still more disarray and discord how can an administration that can’t function move the city forward?
I, for one, am reading the story behind the story and you should too.
