State Rep. Kara Rochelle and officials from the Naugatuck Valley Health District are scheduled to talk about a program aimed at preventing lead poisoning.
The talk is scheduled to happen Sunday, March 10 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ansonia Senior Center, 135 Main St.
The health district has a $2.5 million federal grant to remove lead-based paint hazards in Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour, and Shelton.
“The grant provides free lead and healthy homes inspections and up to $15k/unit in lead hazard interventions,” according to a press release. “NVHD is also sponsoring an EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Certification Course.”
Grant applications are available at: http://nvhd.org/nauvel/
After the discussion about the program, Rochelle will be updating constituents on what’s happening in Hartford.
The legislative update will take place from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Rochelle is a Democrat representing Ansonia and Derby.
