At this time I feel it is very appropriate that I withdraw as a Mayoral candidate seeking the nod from the Democrats in Derby.
The people on the Democratic Town Committee are the salt of the earth and I have given them notice today. Democrats whose core values are for the working families of Derby.
I know that nothing is more important than uniting the Democratic Party. I am no longer seeking to primary Mr. Dan Foley.
I just got off the phone with Dan and offered him my full support. Contrary to news blogs, Dan and I are good friends and I look forward to knocking on doors with him in the November election.
Dan should have won the last election but he got a late start and he only lost by a hand-full of people. By Dan taking the high road during the last few months, the people of Derby can be guaranteed a man of honor will be filling it’s most important post.
One thing I have learned on the campaign trail is that passion can only be measured by how you can persuade.
I tried to keep my political life separate from my personal life, in this I have failed.
I do believe that in the years to come I will be running again, but right now the climate isn’t right.
You can be in the audience when history unfolds or you can get in the arena and make your own history.
