
SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Jan. 20, 2025 through Jan. 27, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 170 calls for service and made eight arrests between Jan. 20, 2025 and Jan. 27, 2025.
JAN. 20, 2025
12:30 a.m. Police charged Christoper Stanely, 33, of New York, with murder and first-degree assault. Click here and here for previous Valley Indy stories.
11:10 a.m. A resident called police about missing manhole cover on Chamberlin Road.
3:08 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in a private parking lot on New Haven Road.
3:23 p.m. A report of larceny was received by police about two males passing three, $100 counterfeit bills to purchase a battery at AutoZone on First Street.
JAN. 21, 2025
12:43 a.m. Police were called for a report of a verbal dispute on Silvermine Road near Microboard in the Silvermine Industrial Park.
1:48 a.m. p.m. Police charged a 57-year old Beacon Falls woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
1:41 p.m. Police were notified of a person walking in the southbound lane of Route 8 and notified State Police Troop I to assist.
2:11 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car crash in the parking lot of Seymour High School.
8:28 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident in the parking lot at the Henny Penny Gas Station on New Haven Road.
JAN. 22, 2025
8:21 a.m. Police responded to a report of a disabled tractor trailer truck at the intersection of Bank Street and Old Drive.
11:15 a.m. A school resource officer at Chatfield-LoPresti School on Skokorat Street reported a suspicious vehicle in the school parking lot. Police removed the vehicle with no further issue.
12:41 p.m. A Balance Rock resident reported her mail had been stolen.
9:56 p.m. Police received a complaint from a New Street resident about a car blocking his driveway/garage.
JAN. 23, 2025
5:46 a.m. A North Benham Road resident complained to police that a neighbor’s dog had been barking since 5 a.m. Police spoke with the neighbor about the ongoing issue and the neighbor said he has to let his dogs out before he goes to work. The dogs were brought back inside after police spoke with the neighbor.
1:55 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident who said someone attempted to use his credit card.
4:43 p.m. A George Street resident reported to police that a Door Dash food deliver driver was giving her “weird vibes” upon placing an order. Police advised the resident to contact them if any future issues or suspicions with Door Dash drivers.
10:38 p.m. Police received a complaint of an unoccupied motor vehicle parked in the middle of the road near Great Hill/Buckingham Road. Driver of car ran out of gas, police said, and was gone before police arrived to the scene.
JAN. 24, 2025
2:54 p.m. A 911 caller reported her boyfriend was having a meltdown and intentionally took a bottle of unknown pills. Police said the man was transported to Griffin Hospital for medical issue and there was no issue with pills.
3:39 p.m. Police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the Mountain Road Plaza on New Haven Road.
4:34 p.m. Police charged a 28-year old Seymour man with use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and second-degree violation of condition of release.
5:35 p.m. Police responded to a report of a disabled motor vehicle on Route 8 north at Exit 18.
JAN. 25, 2025
2:21 a.m. An Ajellos Farm Road resident called police about a truck “looping around the block and doing burnouts.” Police checked the area but found no truck on arrival.
7:53 p.m. A North Mead Farm resident called police about teenagers driving their vehicles erratically. Police patrolled the area and said the complaint was unfounded.
8:29 p.m. Police responded to a complaint of disorderly conduct between two employees at AutoZone on First Street. The matter was resolved without incident.
JAN. 26, 2025
12:47 a.m. Police conducted a building safety check at a business on North Main Street.
2:10 p.m. Police received a report of high-pitched noise coming from a garbage can in front of a business on Bank Street. Police said an old carbon monoxide detector was thrown out with the batteries still inside. The batteries were removed and the noise stopped.
2:48 p.m. Police assisted Oxford Police on a report of a stolen motor vehicle from Oxford that was headed east to Seymour on New Haven Road. Police did not find the vehicle but notified Woodbridge Police and State Police Troop I.
6:14 p.m. Police responded to a medical emergency on Squantuck Road about an intoxicated individual that had ingested hand sanitizer. The person was transported to the hospital.
7:02 p.m. A Washington Avenue resident reported to police that the side-view mirror on his car had been broken off.
7:56 p.m. Police were called to the Seymour Public Library on Church Street about a car parked in the parking lot after hours. Driver told police he was killing time before work. Police advised the driver there is no parking on town property after hours and the driver left.
JAN. 27, 2025
1:11 a.m. Police received a call from a driver who said her car was stuck on ice across the street from Valley Burger on South Main Street.
3:56 a.m. Police received a complaint of a verbal dispute between two people on Balance Rock Road.
9:16 a.m. Police were called by Ansonia Police requesting assistance for a police dog for a motor vehicle stop, but the request was cancelled prior to Seymour’s arrival.
