SEYMOUR — State police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate what they called a “road rage incident” on Route 8 north near exit 21.
Witnesses or anyone with info is being asked to call Trooper Vinston at 203 393 4200.
According to a statement from police, troopers from Troop I Bethany responded to the incident at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday.
Seymour firefighters reported that the FD and EMS were sent to the scene of a person hit by a vehicle.
According to state police, a woman driving a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe with Massachusetts plates had pulled over onto the right shoulder with another vehicle, described as a gray-colored sedan with a partial Connecticut plate of “803.”
In a statement posted to its website, police did not give information as to why the two vehicles were pulled over on the Route 8 shoulder.
Police said the woman exited her Hyundai and approached the second vehicle.
“The unidentified operator of the gray sedan began to drive away from the scene while the victim was holding onto the suspect’s vehicle, causing the victim to fall onto the pavement and sustain minor injuries,” troopers said.
Emergency dispatches from the Seymour first responders described a chaotic, confusing scene. They immediately took steps to protect the woman, who was lying on the highway with head injuries.
In addition to witnesses to the incident, state police are looking for anyone with a dashboard camera who was driving through the area. The case number for reference is 2100379474.
