Each year The Valley Indy uses “The Great Give“ as an annual reader drive. It’s a 36-hour online fundraiser that officially kicks off online at 8 a.m. May 1.
Hundreds of nonprofits in the greater Valley participate (click here for a list), and millions of dollars are raised each year.
But you can also participate with what they call “advanced giving.” That’s … you guessed it: donating before the official start date!
I’m happy to report that The Valley Indy has been receiving donations in advance.
As of 5 p.m. Saturday, April 20, seven people had donated $1,375.

Also coming up this week at BAD SONS Beer Co. in Derby: “Charity on Tap,” a Great Give related event presented by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, The Valley Community Foundation, Connecticut Young Professionals, and FUEL.
The event is scheduled for Thursday (April 25) from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. BAD SONS is at 251 Roosevelt Drive. It’s being billed as a way for business world to network — and a way to learn about the many local nonprofits that will benefit from The Great Give.
There’s even a “lightening round” during which nonprofit representatives will introduce their orgs and quickly explain the good work they’re doing in the community.
