If you know someone who has medical equipment that needs to be charged in Derby, please share this information from the Derby Office of Emergency Management:
The City of Derby is still working with the Utility companies in order to try and get power restored to those affected areas.
In the interim, all residents without power should call United Illuminating to advise them that they have no power.
The number for UI is 1 – 800-7-CALL-UI (1 – 800-722‑5584).
The City of Derby is still running a Comfort Station at the Community Center 35 Fifth St for those without power.
Residents can take showers, charge their cell phones, medical equipment and laptops at this center.
It is open Monday – Friday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The phone number is 203 – 735-4222.
We ask that residents wishing to use the Comfort Station please bring a towel and toiletries as none are available.
Residents with power lines that have been pulled off of their house, must have these lines repaired by a licensed electrician prior to UI reconnecting their power.
Residents are responsible for the power lines from where they connect to their house down to the meter.
Having this repaired prior to the arrival of United Illuminating will make for an efficient restoration of their power.
(Editor’s note — Derby OEM tells us there are scattered power outages throughout town, including Fairview Terrace, Atwater Avenue and Pleasantview Road. As of 2:15 p.m. Thursday, 257 UI customers were without power in Derby, about 4 percent of all UI customers in the city)
