Eversource crews mobilizing off New Haven Avenue in Derby on Tuesday.
UPDATE: By nightfall Thursday, natural gas delivery was back online for the vast majority of customers in Ansonia and Derby. According to Derby Mayor Rich Dziekan’s office, Eversource was still trying to gain access to a small number of houses in order to turn on gas and pilot lights.
“Please advise anyone still without gas to call 877 – 944-5325 to get a technician to their location or schedule a time when they will be home,” Eversource told the mayor’s office.

Eversource says service has been restored to some 2,100 customers in Derby and Ansonia.
Initially the company said 2,500 customers were impacted after low natural gas pressure was reported Tuesday throughout Derby and Ansonia. People were left without heat or hot water. Gas-fired appliances did not turn on.
Eversource mobilized an army of workers to turn off gas throughout the system, fix the issue, then individually go home to home to restore service.
The work continues.
“The restoration process requires access to customer homes and we are coordinating with those remaining customers directly,” Eversource spokesman Mitch Gross said in an email at 6:38 a.m.
“There are approximately 200 customers left to restore and all have been left contact info to call us at 877 – 944-5325 to schedule the work,” he said.
Gas pressure dropped on Election Day due to a blockage caused by an underground valve that malfunctioned. It was dug up and replaced, Gross said.
