Today On ‘Valley Navel Gazing’

Fire safety and a legendary Valley journalist will be subjects of discussion this morning on Valley Navel Gazing,” this publication’s weekly talk show.

The show begins at 9 a.m. on WNHH-LP from New Haven.

Timm Willis, a Deputy Fire Marshal from Seymour, will be a guest about 9:05. He’ll talk about an event scheduled for Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Seymour Middle School Auditorium.

The event — called After the Fire” — features a discussion led by Shawn Simons and Alvaro Llanos. They survived a horrendous arson fire at a dorm at Seton Hall University in New Jersey 15 years ago in which three people died. The fire was started as a prank.

At 9:30 a.m., Jack Walsh, president of the Valley United Way, will join the show to talk about the Charles H. Flynn Humanitarian Award, for which the Valley United Way is now accepting nominations.

The award, which is the Valley’s oldest and most prestigious award for community service, has been presented annually since 1971 and is named for a longtime former editor of The Evening Sentinel.”
