DERBY — Two men have been charged in connection to a June 27 shootout on Anson Street.

Trevon Vickers, 20, of Ansonia, is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, second-degree breach of peace, and possession of drugs with intent to sell.

Carlos Scott, 26, of Seymour, is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, breach of peace, and criminal mischief.

According to warrants for their arrest, Vickers and Scott were part of a group hanging out on Anson Street in front of a convenience store when two vehicles rolled by at 9:09 p.m.

One of the vehicles slowed down near Anson’s intersection with Fifth Street, just down the block from the convenience store.

Police said that someone from that vehicle may have fired a shot toward the group outside the store.

As the vehicle slowed, surveillance video reviewed by police shows a bystander begin to run erratically” on the sidewalk. Another person in a parked car could be seen trying to exit his vehicle and then quickly closing the door.

Police believe that Vickers and Scott pulled out guns and fired multiple shots down Anson Street toward the vehicle that had slowed down.

During the investigation police also received information that the incident was part of an ongoing dispute, and that Vickers and Scott were protecting themselves after being fired upon.

This information has not been confirmed. Investigators attempted to speak with witnesses to confirm this information, however, no one would speak with investigators,” according to the warrant.

The arrest warrant also notes that Vickers has a long arrest record. A court database search shows 12 criminal cases pending. The Connecticut Post reported that Vickers had cut off a court-ordered ankle monitor he was wearing.

Data from the monitoring device prior to its removal places Vickers in the area of Anson Street during the shooting, according to the warrant. Police also said they found his sneaker at the scene, along with marijuana packaged to sell inside his car.
