As workers spent hours Friday prying open the cornerstone of the Derby Elks Lodge, they weren’t sure whether a 100-year-old Derby time capsule was still in there.
That’s one of the behind-the-scenes revelations local historian Randy Ritter shared Monday morning on “Valley Navel Gazing,” this publication’s weekly talk show.
The full episode is posted above. Click play to listen. Ritter’s interview begins at about the 10-minute mark.
At the 27-minute mark, special effects makeup artist Brian Spears (pictured on front page) comes on the air to talk about his lifelong obsession with flesh-eating zombies.
Spears’ credits include “The Innkeepers,” “I Sell the Dead,” “We Are What We Are,” “Old 37,” “The Mind’s Eye,” and several Marvel-produced shows on Netflix, including “Jessica Jones.”
“Valley Navel Gazing” is heard every Monday at 9 a.m. live on ValleyIndy.org and NewHavenIndependent.org.
In New Haven, it is heard live on 103.5 FM.
