ANSONIA – A Waterbury man was arrested after allegedly firing a weapon in the North End neighborhood, Ansonia police said on Nov. 18.
According to a press release, Edward Rumley, 32, was arrested by Ansonia police on Nov. 12. He is charged with first-degree criminal attempt at assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge, criminal possession of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit.
Police said Rumley was involved in an Aug. 31 shooting on Fourth Street. No one was injured, and no property was damaged in that incident, according to police.
After the shooting, Bridgeport police stopped a vehicle containing Rumley along with two other people. Police at the time said they found a gun in the vehicle, and all three were arrested and charged with weapons violations for that gun.
Rumley’s arrest last week, though, is for the shots fired earlier on that day.
Police said they expect to make at least one more arrest in connection to the shots that were fired, but that their other suspect is currently serving time for unrelated charges.
Rumley was transferred back to the custody of the Department of Corrections, where he is currently serving time for unrelated charges.
His next appearance is Nov. 21 in Derby Superior Court.
