May 27 COVID-19 Data From The Naugatuck Valley Health District

The Naugatuck Valley Health District reported three more deaths Wednesday associated with the COVID-19 virus. Two of the people were residents of the Shady Knoll nursing home in Seymour. The third person was a resident of an undisclosed nursing home in Shelton.

The Naugatuck Valley Health District serves as the health department for Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour and Shelton.

As of 5 p.m. May 27, there were 181 COVID-associated deaths in those communities, with another 31 probable COVID deaths, according to the health district.

Of the lab-confirmed COVID-associated deaths, 108 have happened in Shelton; 39 in Seymour; 28 in Naugatuck, four in Ansonia, and two in Derby.

According to the health district, 165 of the 181 lab-confirmed COVID associated deaths have been in local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or similar settings. That is 91 percent of all deaths in the lower Naugatuck Valley (not including Oxford, which is in a different health district).
