Good Things Are Happening In The Valley

Even with the fear and uncertainty created by the COVID-19 coronavirus, neighbors, businesses and groups are supporting each other in any number of ways.

The City of Ansonia has been promoting a COVID-19 related social movement in which people ring bells each night in a show of community togetherness.

Ansonia Public Schools released a video encouraging students and families

The Hub Wood Burning Pizza Bar on Main Street donated pizza to the workers at Ansonia Rescue Medical Services March 27.

Unfortunately, Relish Wine Bar & Grill on Main Street closed its doors, at least temporarily, when restaurants were told to switch to delivery and takeout in an effort to curb the transmission of the virus. After announcing the indefinite closure, the business still donated food to the Ansonia Police Department and Ansonia Rescue Medical Services March 25.

The Litchfield Distillery, thanks to an executive order from Gov. Ned Lamont, started producing hand sanitizer earlier this month. The company donated hand sanitizer, through Mayor David Cassetti, to Ansonia Rescue Medical Services and the Ansonia Police Department.

The Italian Pavilion on Pershing Drive donated food to workers at Griffin Hospital in Derby.

BJ’s Wholesale on Division Street in Derby contributed supplies to the Derby Police Department, according to a photo posted March 25. Items donated included snacks, water and sport drinks.

Host families from Apex International Education Partners, LLC (AIEP) donated hand sanitizer and masks to the Derby Police Department.

Home Depot donated protective masks to the Derby Storm Engine Co.

AIEP donated masks and hand sanitizer to Derby Storm Engine.

St. Mary-St. Michael School donated cleaning supplies to the Storms.

Haynes Construction and Zois Pizza teamed to deliver 320 N95 face masks, along with face shields, to hospital workers. Zois donated food.

The Seymour Police Department participated in an 8 p.m. community spirit bell ringing. The Facebook video is embedded below:

The New Belgium Brewing Co. and Pub 67 donated 100 chicken wings to the officers of the Seymour Police Department.

The Seymour Stop & Shop donated many cases of water to Seymour police, fire and EMS.
