Ansonia Students Add A Touch Of Winter To 125th Anniversary Sign

CONTRIBUTEDMembers of Ansonia High School’s Art Club stand beside a sampling of their work recently after adding a creative and wintery mix of snowflakes to the ANSONIA 125 display that has been seen at many events throughout the year.

Instructor Nancy Bennett-Morgenstern happily collaborated with ANSONIA 125 Deputy Event Coordinator Pat Henri to give the display a festive holiday facelift.

The full display will be on hand Friday, Dec. 5, at Veterans Park next to City Hall on Main Street for Ansonia’s annual tree lighting.

Ansonia Plans ‘Naugy River Bash’ Sept. 27

The Ansonia Nature Center in conjunction with Ansonia’s 125th anniversary is hosting a celebration of the Naugatuck River along the Ansonia Riverwalk — the first ever NAUGY RIVER BASH Saturday, Sept. 27 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Take a stroll along the river and stop by at the corner of Division and North Division streets for a diverse agenda of music, magic, food, exhibits, games, and activities for the entire family.

Pizza Clinic A Hit With Mayor, Son

CONTRIBUTEDAnsonia Mayor David Cassetti and his son, David Jr., took part in a weekly pizza clinic” Aug. 9 at The Original Antonio’s restaurant. 

The eatery, located at the corner of Main and Bridge streets, has been conducting the clinics for kids every Saturday this summer, at which pizza chefs lead a demonstration and give step-by-step instructions while children follow along making their own pies.

Ansonia Stops Payment On Fireworks Check

Just how lousy were the fireworks at the conclusion of the Ansonia Summerfest at Nolan Field July 19?

IS THAT IT?” some yelled angrily from Wakelee Avenue. They weren’t being divas.

The underwhelming $5,500 flare show” caused city officials to stop payment on a check issued to the company that put on the disappointing display.

The show simply wasn’t what Ansonia ordered, according to city officials.

The moment the fireworks ended I ran to talk to the guy doing the display,” Chris Tymniak, Ansonia’s chief administrative officer, said Monday (July 28). We immediately stopped payment on the check.”

‘Town-wide Tag Sale’ In Ansonia July 26

As part of the yearlong Ansonia 125” celebration, Ansonia’s first Town-wide Tag Sale” is scheduled to be held on Saturday July 26 between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday July 27.

Whether you call it a Tag Sale, Yard Sale, or Garage Sale, people just love selling and buying items at a bargain,” says ANSONIA 125 Event Coordinator Melissa Torres.

This gives residents and civic organizations an opportunity to sell some of their unneeded items to bargain-hunters who will be proficiently focused and guided to tag sales throughout Ansonia.

Celebrate Ansonia’s 125th Birthday At ‘Summerfest’ July 19

Ansonia’s yearlong celebration of the city’s 125th anniversary culminates July 19 with Summerfest, a day of music, sports, food, and fireworks at Nolan Field.

The eight-hour celebration kicks off at 2 p.m. Nolan Field is at 350 Wakelee Ave.

Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under get in free.

Organizers promise an accommodating re-enter policy will be in effect” for the event to satisfy all your quasquicentennial needs.
