OXFORD – Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford invites the community to celebrate the spirit of Chanukah at the 3rd Annual Chanukah Celebration at Quarry Walk on the Quarry Walk Green on Thursday, December 26, at 5:00 PM. The event will feature a grand menorah lighting, an exciting gelt drop coordinated with the Oxford Fire Department, live menorah ice carving, music, and giveaways for attendees of all ages.
The Oxford Chanukah Celebration will be an evening of joy and inspiration as the community comes together to mark the Festival of Lights. A highlight of the event, the gelt drop, will see chocolate coins rain down from an elevated fire truck ladder, delighting children and families. The ice carving of a menorah will bring a creative touch to the festivities, while traditional Chanukah treats such as latkes and donuts will be distributed to all present.

DERBY – Mayor Joseph DiMartino proudly attended the Derby Pop Warner Show-Off event to present a generous $500 check to Derby Pop Warner President Melissa Mongillo.
This contribution will support the organization’s talented young athletes as they prepare to compete in the prestigious Pop Warner Cheerleading Finals during the week of December 9, 2024.
The donation will help defray expenses for the Tiny Mites, Mighty Mites, and Junior Peewees teams as they represent Derby on the national stage.

DERBY – As the holiday season unfolds, St. Vincent de Paul of the Valley is seeing an outpouring of generosity from the local community. Among its supporters is St. Michael’s Catholic War Veterans Post 1562, which recently delivered much-needed contributions to help the organization continue its vital mission of aiding families in need.
“We are so grateful for the support of organizations like St. Michael’s,” said Remy Kocurek, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul of the Valley. “This is a time of year when the need is particularly great, and their help ensures we can continue providing assistance to those who rely on us.”
The Ansonia Holiday Marketplace will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Armory Building (5 State St.) on Saturday, Dec. 7. The flyer above was submitted by Rich DiCarlo.
There will be crafters and vendors at the marketplace. There will be a visit from Santa, and kids will receive a bell from Santa’s sleigh.

The Ansonia chapter of the NAACP will be holding its Freedom Fund Gospel Brunch on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Abundant Life Church (195 – 199 N. Main St.)

Nighttime operations will typically occur Sunday night through Thursday night.
Saw-cutting and concrete pavement repair activities will continue, northbound from Exit 15 to 22 (New Exits 12B to 18).
Both northbound and southbound traffic lanes have moved to the right shoulder to create a work area for median barrier replacement between Exit 20 and 22 (New Exits 17 – 18).
Median barrier and median drainage is being replaced.

SEYMOUR — The Friends of Seymour CT Public Library will be holding a December Book Sale.
The sale will be Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Hours on Friday the 6th will be from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and will be for members of the Friends only. Memberships can be bought at the door. Saturday, December 7 the sale is open to the public and will run from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.
