SHELTON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT INCIDENT RESPONSES

On 4/5/24 at 5:17 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Wicke Health Care Center at #584 Long Hill Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

Griffin Hospital Annual Baby Fair Returns May 4

DERBY – The Childbirth Center at Griffin Hospital Annual Baby Fair is back after a three-year hiatus.

Expectant parents, new parents and their families are invited to learn about the Childbirth Center and area maternity and child care resources from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sat., May 4 at Griffin Hospital, 130 Division Street in Derby. This free event features many exhibitors, special offers and discounts, raffles, door prizes, tours of the Childbirth Center and information about the Center’s classes and support groups for before and after childbirth.

Derby Historical Society Annual Meeting & Luncheon

Please join the Derby Historical Society at their Annual Meeting and Luncheon on April 21, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Payden Field House in Derby as they conduct their annual meeting and give their 3‑core volunteer-based awards. The luncheon will consist of chicken, ziti, salad, bread, beverage, coffee and dessert. While ticket prices are $40, anyone who makes a $50 donation will also receive a free ticket.

On March 21, 2024, the Ansonia Watch D.O.G.S. met for their first planning meeting to talk about recruiting, activities, and orientation. The Watch D.O.G.S. Program stands for Dads of Great Students, which brings dads and dad figures into school classrooms and hallways across the country, thus creating hours of in-school volunteer time and having a tremendously positive impact on the educational process. State Senator Jorge Cabrera came out to address the dads on how important their work with Watch D.O.G.S. is and how appreciative everyone is of them.

Emmett O'Brien Students Receive Tool Donation

Emmett O’Brien’s Precision Machining Technology 9th grade students just recently received a $18,000 donation from the Forum Contract Manufacturing in Waterbury, Connecticut. The tools were presented to each of the students in a surprise ceremony.
