DERBY — The Derby Police Department’s Auxiliary Unit will hold its 8th Annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Derby on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 9 am to 2 pm at BJ’s Wholesale Club located at 20 Division Street, Derby. 

At the Stuff-A-Cruiser” event, Officers will accept non-perishable food donations to feed Valley area families in need.

Help Brighten The Holidays Of Derby Military Families

Mayor Joseph DiMartino is calling upon the greater Derby community to make the holiday season a little brighter for local military families.

In keeping with Derby tradition, Mayor DiMartino is asking for monetary contributions for local men and women serving at home or abroad in the military. These contributions will be equally distributed among Derby service members as a gift of appreciation from the community.

Ansonia To Hold Toy Show To Benefit Library

ANSONIA He-Man, the Care Bears, Optimus Prime, Ninja Turtles and more classic toys are set to invade the Ansonia Armory at 5 State Street, Ansonia, CT on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the City holds its first ever Toy Show to benefit the Children’s Room at the Ansonia Library.

Entrance to the show is $5, with all proceeds (including vendor fees) going to the purchase of new books for Ansonia’s Children’s Library. Over 20 vendors are expected, specializing in vintage toys and collectibles like comics, games, and colorful pop-culture artifacts.

Griffin Health Valley Soul Choir To Perform Dec. 10 In Seymour

The Griffin Health Valley Soul Holiday Gospel Choir is set to illuminate the joys of the holiday season with a free concert of traditional and contemporary gospel and holiday music on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour.

Under the direction of recording artist and music industry veteran Angela Clemmons, the Valley Soul choir of volunteer singers will be the main attraction for the Griffin Health Annual Holiday Concert. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the free concert starts at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will follow the concert.

John DiMatteo of Bethany, President of DiMatteo Group Financial Services in Shelton, noted, We wanted to expand our fundraising efforts to support more organizations in need and introduce a new type of event alongside the golf outing we have organized for nearly 20 years.”

Ansonia Coppers 9U Team Continues Undefeated Season

The Ansonia Coppers 9U team has triumphed in the Northern CT Pop Warner Red Conference Championship game, securing a hard-fought victory against the WaterOak Warriors on Saturday, November 9th at Nolan Field in Ansonia, CT.

The game showcased the determination and outstanding teamwork that have defined the Coppers’ season. Despite being down 12 – 0 at halftime, the Coppers mounted an incredible comeback to clinch the victory. This remarkable turnaround highlighted their resilience, strategic adjustments, and never-give-up attitude.

With this victory, the 9U Ansonia Coppers continue their perfect season, extending their undefeated record to 10 – 0. Their disciplined play, skilled coaching, and the unwavering support of their families and community have propelled them to winning season.
