Oxford is owed some $10.2 million in delinquent taxes stretching back to 1997, officials said Tuesday.
Town officials are combing through a 41-page list containing about 2,000 delinquent tax accounts.
Not every name on the list actually owes taxes, according to Oxford First Selectman George Temple.

The lawyer representing former Oxford Tax Collector Karen Guillet said that discussions with prosecutors are ongoing in the case but it would be “premature” to call them plea negotiations.
Guillet appeared briefly in Superior Court in Milford Tuesday, where her case was continued to March 15 by Judge Richard E. Arnold.
Her lawyer, Dominick Thomas, told Arnold that he is still reviewing documents provided through the discovery process, and that he also needs time to respond to discussions he held with State’s Attorney Kevin Lawlor.

A former Oxford official accused of embezzling some $240,000 from town pleaded not guilty during a short appearance in Superior Court in Milford Monday morning.
Karen Guillet, the town’s former tax collector, is scheduled to appear in court again Jan. 24.
Guillet is charged with one count of first-degree larceny and six counts of first-degree forgery.

Karen Guillet, the former Oxford tax collector accused of embezzling more than $240,000 from the town, was arraigned at Superior Court in Derby Monday morning.
Her case was transferred to Superior Court in Milford, where more serious cases are heard.
Guillet, who is charged with one count of first-degree larceny and six counts of first-degree forgery, is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 19.

Former tax collector Karen Guillet was stealing money from Oxford to pay for spa treatments, dog walkers, spending sprees at posh stores — and weekly deliveries of fresh flowers to her home.
The allegations are from the arrest warrant state police used Nov. 30 to charge Guillet with embezzling $243,902 from the town in 2008 and 2009.

A cash register and computer will be soon installed at the counter where Oxford residents pay their taxes in Town Hall.
It’s a simple move to make the tax collection process more transparent: Residents will now see the tax collector count their money and complete the transaction.

State police arrested former Oxford Tax Collector Karen Guillet Wednesday morning on first-degree larceny and first-degree forgery charges.
Guillet, 61, has been under investigation by the state police since December 2009.
The town claims Guillet took more than $670,000 over six years.

The Town of Oxford on Monday received a $100,000 check from The Hartford Fire Insurance Company.
The company’s policy guaranteed the loyalty and honesty of the former tax collector, Karen Guillet, who is accused of taking more than $600,000 from the town’s tax collection coffers.
First Selectman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers said the check was being deposited into the town’s general fund account.

The Town of Oxford is due a $100,000 payment from an insurance company, which covers a portion of the money allegedly misappropriated by the town’s former tax collector.
