U.S Rep. Rosa DeLauro met with Valley business leaders at the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce Monday morning to discuss the economy, jobs and federal policy with an emphasis on how it relates to business — especially small business.
DeLauro spoke in detail about the recession’s affect on businesses and families nationally and in Connecticut – but the conversation soon turned to the hot topic of health care reform.

That was the sound of more than 1,250 people from the Valley and the Greater New Haven area bowling for charity Saturday afternoon at the Milford AMF Lanes, where probably more than $100,000 was being raised for The Umbrella and Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven.

In the baking supplies aisle at the ShopRite supermarket on Pershing Drive, a one-pound can of shelled walnuts sells for roughly $5.
“They sell mostly during the year-end holidays,” said Lee Morra, the store’s front end manager.
That’s too bad, because walnuts have been shown in a study to improve cardiovascular health in people with Type 2 diabetes.
