| Nov 19, 2024 8:48 am |OXFORD — The Oxford Pop Warner 7U Rookie Tackle team achieved a historic milestone this season, winning the first-ever Red Conference Championship in Northern Connecticut Pop Warner history. The team’s outstanding performance didn’t stop there — they went on to finish as State Champion Runners-Up, closing their remarkable season with an impressive 8 – 2 record.
This trailblazing accomplishment not only cemented Oxford’s place in youth football history but also showcased the program’s commitment to excellence, teamwork, and character. Adding to the celebration, Oxford Pop Warner was honored with the 2024 Sportsmanship Award by the Western CT Football Officials Association. This prestigious award is presented annually to one program that exemplifies integrity, respect, and exemplary conduct on the field.

ANSONIA – The days when volunteers hauled their pumper by hand to fires were recalled Saturday night when the Charters Hose Company feted David Fitzgerald of 135 Clifton Ave, a 50-year member of the unit at its annual old timers’ night at the company headquarters.

| Nov 13, 2024 6:48 am |DERBY — Griffin Health and the Agency on Aging of South-Central Connecticut are hosting a series of medication safety talks and free blood pressure screenings for seniors throughout the Valley in November.
The events will feature a discussion led by Griffin Health Director of Pharmacy Services Lisa Jaser, Pharm D, of medication safety and how to make smart prescription choices. Griffin Health caregivers will also be offering free blood pressure screenings and consultations.

Premiering with “Guys and Dolls” on February 15, 2025, the season will feature five musicals, including the annual summer production featuring actors aged 14 – 23, in addition to a holiday offering and its education center line-up and summer programming for young actors in grades K‑12.

Rep. Nicole Klarides-Ditria, a Republican, was re-elected in state House District 105. She ran unopposed.
Rep. Jason Perillo, a Republican, was re-elected in state House District 113. He ran unopposed.
Rep. Mary Welander, a Democrat, won re-election to state House District 114. She ran unopposed.
Rep. Ben McGorty, a Republican, was re-elected in state House District 122.
Arnold Jensen, a Republican, was elected in state House District 131.
Sen. Eric Berthel, a Republican, was re-elected in state Senate District 32.
Sen. Kevin Kelly, a Republican, was re-elected in state Senate District 21.
Sen. Jorge Cabrera, a Democrat, was re-elected in state Senate District 17. He ran unopposed.
