Seymour police are trying to figure out if a Friday night’s knife-point robbery at the Route 34 Dunkin Donuts the latest in a string of similar robberies that have plagued the region.
On Friday at about 7:30 p.m. a Dunkin Donuts employee called the cops to report the place had just been robbed.
Police said a man had walked into the store and ordered a coffee. He then pulled out a knife and demanded money.
“The suspect then reached over the service counter and grabbed an undetermined amount of money from the cash register, hurriedly exited the store and fled on foot through the establishment’s parking lot,” according to a prepared statement from police.
The man was last seen running east toward Walsh’s Country Store.
“It is believed the suspect had an unknown vehicle parked in this area which he later left in. It is unknown if there were any accomplices that assisted this male,” police said.
The suspect is described as a white male approximately six feet tall, wearing blue jeans, a white sneaker type shoe and a blue hooded sweatshirt which was pulled over his head to partially conceal his identity, police said.
The sweatshirt had the word ‘NIKE’ across the front of the sweatshirt with yellow lettering.
The suspect also had light facial hair in the form of a goatee and is believed to be in his thirties, police said.
Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance tapes.
