DERBY — Maid Brigade on New Haven Avenue recently marked 20 years in business.
Mayor Rich Dziekan and Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce President Bill Purcell attended a ribbon-cutting Aug. 1 to introduce Brian Leary, Maid Brigade Derby’s new owner (see image above).

Bushi Ban Announces New Black Belts
Bushi Ban Martial Arts & Fitness students from Southbury and Seymour earned their Black Belts on August 3rd at Bushi Ban World Headquarters in Pasadena Texas. The Black Belt final was administered over two days culminating in an exhaustive 3‑hour Spirit Test. Bushi Ban International awarded a total of 56 Black Belts as part of the Class of 2019.
Pictured along with Connecticut’s class of 2019 is Bushi Ban Grand Master Zulfi Ahmed, Sensei John Lombardo, Sensei Steve Fitol, Shayne Fitol, Jessica Mandell, Clara McGee and Amelia McGee.
