SEYMOUR — “Godzilla Stomps The Strand” is a double feature scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at The Strand Theatre, 165 Main St. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
Two modern classic “Godzilla” flicks will be shown, both produced by Toho, the legendary Japanese motion picture studio. The movies are “Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah“ (1991) and “Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack“ (2001).
Click play to listen to a podcast interview with Ansonia’s John Marini, who is organizing “Godzilla Stomps The Strand” on behalf of The Knights of Columbus, the group that owns the theater and of which Marini is a member.
Marini is a hardcore classic sci-fi and horror fan, especially when it comes to Godzilla. While everyone probably knows the original “Godzilla” from 1954 and the sequels Toho churned out in the 1960s and 1970s, the continuation of the Toho franchise in the 1990s and beyond is not as well-known by mainstream American audiences.
Marini hopes people come out to see the movies on the big screen — something that didn’t happen in America when the flicks were first released.
The movies are fun and wacky — perfect summertime escapism for the family.

In addition to showing the movies, there are raffle prizes available. Click the play button to get more information from the interview.
Tickets are $10 cash and will be available at the door. Tickets can be purchased in advance at GuitarFixer Bob’s shop next to the theater. However, call the shop at 203 881‑0077 to make sure an employee is there before you head out.
