VALLEYTEAM, Inc. is establishing a flood relief fund for people impacted by the floods on Aug. 18.

TEAM Inc., a Valley-based organization serving the most vulnerable of our region, has set up a relief fund for residents impacted by Sunday’s devastating storm and flood,” a press release from the organization said.

The fund will be used for assistance to those in the Valley directly impacted by the flood. TEAM President David Morgan told The Valley Indy that the money will go towards people’s basic needs, and listed food, housing, and transportation assistance as examples.

All of the money donated to the fund will go directly toward this assistance, Morgan said, and none of it will be used for administration or other costs.

The key is 100 percent of it is used toward that. There’s no administration use of it whatsoever,” Morgan said.

Morgan pointed to a past fund that TEAM established to aid dozens of displaced residents after a 2014 fire in Shelton, and said that this fund will function similarly.

The fund is restricted to the region TEAM, Inc. covers, which includes hard-hit Oxford and Seymour, as well as Ansonia, Derby, Beacon Falls, Woodbridge, among other towns. Some other hard-hit areas, including Southbury and Monroe, fall outside of TEAM, Inc.’s service area.

Morgan said that TEAM’s physical locations had been spared the worst of the flood damage, and that only its Meals on Wheels program had been affected. He said the organization was coordinating with local emergency responders to ensure residents’ needs are met as of Monday (Aug. 19).
