Top Five Valley Stories Of The Year: The Readers Decide

The Valley Indy posted a Google Form survey asking people to choose the top Valley story of 2024.

Fifteen choices were posted. Readers had to choose one top story.

Stats show that 214 votes were cast. Of those, a whopping 57 percent chose the terrible Aug. 18 Flood of 2024 as the top story of the year. Click here for our flood coverage.

Incumbent state Rep. Kara Rochelle fending off a challenge from Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti in the state House 104th District was second with 15.4 percent of the vote.

The City of Ansonia selling its sewer system to Aquarion, a private company, was third with 11.7 percent of the vote. 

The Ansonia High School football team winning a state championship was fourth with 6.1 percent of the vote.

Ansonia Stop & Shop closing its doors placed fifth, with 2.3 percent of the vote.
