DERBY — The Valley Community Foundation (VCF) is thrilled to officially kick off its annual “Valley Gives Back” campaign, an initiative designed to promote direct legacy gifting to area nonprofits and causes.
As National Philanthropy Day encourages acts of kindness and generosity, the Valley Gives Back campaign invites individuals to embrace the spirit of giving and consider planning and leaving a legacy gift during their lifetime.
“Legacy giving is a powerful way for individuals to leave a lasting impact on their communities and support causes close to their hearts,” said Sharon Closius, VCF’s President and CEO. “It allows them to make a difference for generations to come and ensures that the vital work of local nonprofits continues to thrive.”
The Valley Gives Back initiative, started by VCF in 2018, encourages people to consider various ways they can make a significant impact on their favorite nonprofits or causes without affecting their financial well-being during their lifetime. Some legacy-giving options include leaving life insurance policies to a nonprofit, donating IRA distribution funds, giving property, and even donating stock assets.
To mark the official launch of the campaign, VCF has also installed a special billboard atop the Cohen & Thomas building in Derby. The eye-catching display “Stop…Look…Listen to Your Heart: Plan a Gift to Your Valley Nonprofit Today…” serves as a reminder of the importance of legacy giving and encourages everyone to consider how they can play a part in creating a brighter future for the Valley community.
The Valley Gives Back website — www.ValleyGivesBack.org — is the initiative’s hub of free information and tools individuals can use when considering leaving a legacy gift to a nonprofit. For more information about the Valley Gives Back, go to the website, or call 203 – 751-9162.
