First of all, I would like to thank the Valley Independent Sentinel for the coverage of this year’s election campaigns.

Now my thoughts about Mr. Cassetti’s grand plan: he says that he will do this about a lot of that. Commenting on his figure of one million dollars in city hall administrative salaries? I have no clue who he is talking about with these salaries.

Clerk Candidate: Know Before You Vote

Election time is here again! 

As cities and towns prepare for municipal elections and yard signs are displayed, take some time to meet the candidates running for office when they visit your neighborhood and speak to them about your concerns.

Listen to their platforms, read the literature, and do not hesitate to question things that are important to you and how your tax dollars are being spent.

Ansonia Alderman: Vote Yes On 7

As strange as it sounds, Ansonia residents actually have to vote YES on ballot question number 7 to ensure their right to vote. Ballot question 7, if passed, will allow residents to have a say on the city budget for the first time in Ansonia’s history.

More specifically, the proposal allows residents to vote on a proposed city budget by referendum in the event that the proposed budget carries a net tax increase of 3 percent or higher. It has been referred to as to as the Responsible Referendum” because it would encourage city officials to be responsible with taxpayer money at budget time.
