| Oct 22, 2024 5:42 am |SEYMOUR — A new Scout Troop in Seymour is hosting a get together at Trinity Episcopal Church at 91 Church St. starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 23).
Troop 13 Girls of Seymour was established this month. They are posted out of Trinity Episcopal and they are part of the Housatonic Council Boy Scouts of America.

The program is free and open to the public. Everyone is invited to attend and registration is required. This can be done by calling the Plumb Memorial Public Library at (203) 924‑1580 ext. 5102 or be visiting our website at: sheltonlibrarysystem.org.
The focus of this seminar will be entitled: Researching Our Roots-Digging Deeper. Genealogical research is both rewarding and challenging. Have you hit a roadblock in your ancestral research? Are you not sure how to find more generations of your family? Join instructor Sarah Miller as she shares tips and tools to help you dig deeper into your family’s past.

| Oct 21, 2024 10:57 am |The 21st Annual Hope Lives event raised $5,000 for breast cancer screening services at The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital in Derby.
Hope Lives is a non-profit organization associated with Horizon of Hope, a national campaign by Longaberger Baskets to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research and local breast cancer services.
Maria Ammar, a Longaberger Stylist Consultant for more than 25 years, has organized the luncheon fundraiser as part of the campaign, raising over $130,000 for the Center.

The 2024 Connecticut U.S. Senate Debate will air live on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. ET from the WTNH News 8 studios in New Haven.

A lot of questions have been asked about Early Voting.
This is the first year where the State of Connecticut will hold Early Voting, which gives voters the opportunity to vote in the election for 14 days prior to Election Day.
Early Voting will be held from Monday, Oct. 21 to Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Hilltop Hose Company Community Room at 80 Pulaski Highway.
Hilltop Hose is the ONLY place designated for Early Voting in Ansonia.
Hours for most days are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except Oct. 29 and Oct. 31, when we will have extended hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Kara Rochelle (D‑Ansonia, Derby) will hold her monthly in-person Community Coffee Events on Friday, Oct. 18 from 8 – 9 a.m. at Valley Diner on 636 New Haven Ave. in Derby and Monday, Oct. 21 from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Copper City Bar & Grill on 82 – 84 Main St. in Ansonia.
Ansonia and Derby residents are welcome to attend both events and Rep. Rochelle encourages them to come share their thoughts, ask questions, and provide feedback on state policy issues.
